''chug-chug...'' With the roar of machinery, pieces of wall fall off one after the other, and workers are demolishing the walls inside the building using hydraulic breakers. The Fuhai International Building, a former leader in the clothing trade, is undergoing a transformation into the Dahongmen Smart Industry Building. Construction efforts have now shifted to the renovation and demolition of stairwells, with the full-scale renovation of the building scheduled to begin in mid-March and expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. Upon completion, it is poised to become a model project for urban renewal and industrial upgrading in the South Central Axis area.
The reporter ascertained that the Dahongmen Smart Industry Building is situated at the intersection of the South Central Axis and the southern third ring road, at the southwest corner of Muxiyuan Bridge, just 6 kilometers from Tiananmen Square. The building's location offers a unique geographical advantage, providing clear advantages for businesses. The project encompasses approximately 97,000 square meters of construction, with a primary focus on propelling the growth of the general AI industry. This initiative will also drive the advancement of technological services and the experience economy, culminating in the establishment of an "1+2" industrial system. The project will yield a "high-quality office + vibrant commercial" complex.
Since the project's inception, the construction team has efficiently executed internal renovations, demolishing 90,000 square meters of interior space and removing over 1,000 tons of construction waste. The project is being overseen by Beijing Dahongmen Smart Future Commercial Management Co., Ltd., and at its peak, more than 40 large and small construction machines and 20 transport vehicles were utilized, with an average of 150 construction personnel on site daily. In response to the building's limited space and the challenge of dust control, the team employed a Shanmao mini-bulldozer in collaboration with manual labor. They implemented measures such as fog cannons and sprinklers to reduce dust, ensuring the safety and environmental protection of the project.
The project is in accordance with the strategy of "simultaneous renovation and investment promotion," and it has already attracted 33 high-quality enterprises to start operations, including 4 high-tech enterprises. Negotiations are underway with a number of interested parties. Sun Qiang, General Manager of Beijing Zhongwei Times Smart Technology Co., Ltd., explained that the primary reason for selecting the Dahongmen Smart Industry Building is its emphasis on the building's industrial cluster effect in the field of general artificial intelligence in the future. This will provide substantial support for the company's brand value-added and subsequent industrial chain docking. Zhang Enshu, Chairman of Zhongji Zhiyuan (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., stated that the building's industrial positioning aligns closely with the company's primary business of digital intelligence. This strategic location fosters a robust industrial ecosystem, paving the way for Zhongji Zhiyuan's growth and success.
The Dahongmen Smart Industry Building will integrate "high-quality offices + vibrant businesses." It will not only host high-end industries such as artificial intelligence, but also create a diverse space for citizens to share. This project is sure to become a model of symbiosis between high-end industries and urban vitality. The project was designated as one of Beijing's key municipal projects for the "Three 100s" initiative for 2025 in January. Construction is currently underway, and it is expected to be fully unveiled in early 2026. By then, it will inject innovative momentum into the southern central axis and help the capital achieve high-quality development.
"As a key part of the urban renewal of the South Central Axis, the transformation of the Dahuimen Smart Industry Building not only marks the intelligent rebirth of old buildings, but will also become an important driver of the upgrading of the regional economy and leading technological innovation,” a person in charge of Beijing South Central Axis Construction and Development Group Co., Ltd. told the reporter.
