Beijing Garden Expo Park is located on the west bank of Yongding River in Fengtai District, from Lianshi West Road in the north, Meishikou Road West Extension in the south, Beigong Road in the west, and Garden Expo Avenue in the southwest. The exhibition area covers 267 hectares and the garden lake covers 246 hectares, totaling 513 hectares. Adhering to the concept of “cultural inheritance, ecological priority, service to people's livelihood and sustainable development”, Beijing Garden Expo Park utilizes green technology to carry out ecological restoration and construction of the park on the landfill site of construction wastes, and it is a large-scale public welfare urban park integrating garden art, cultural landscape, ecological recreation and science popularization education.
The layout of the park is “one axis, two points, five gardens”, “one axis” that is, the Park Expo axis, is the landscape axis through the main exhibition area. The “two points” are Yongding Pagoda and Jinxiu Valley. Yongding Pagoda is an antique pagoda in the style of ancient China's Liao and Jin dynasties, with a height of 69.7 meters, and is the landmark of the park. Jinxiu Valley is a model of “turning decay into magic” in the park, turning a 20-hectare construction waste landfill pit into a sunken flower valley full of flowers. The “five gardens” are the traditional exhibition garden, modern exhibition garden, creative exhibition garden, international exhibition garden and wetland exhibition garden, with a total of 69 exhibition gardens.
Relying on the rich ecological and environmental resources and historical culture of Yongding River, Beijing Garden Expo Park gives full play to the advantages of the capital city, with high-standard planning, high starting point design, high-quality construction, and “transforms the rotten into the magical”. It will have far-reaching influence on improving regional ecological environment, accelerating municipal infrastructure construction, promoting regional comprehensive development, and building a new pattern of tourism in western Beijing, and become a bright pearl on the green ecological development belt of Yongding River.
